Showing Jesus You Love Him

I recently took back on the rewarding task of trying to teach some three year olds on Wednesday nights. The way it usually turns out is, they teach me. Children truly get what it means to love Jesus and what it means for Him to love them. Last week I asked, "What did you do to show you loved Jesus this week?" In about two seconds they gave answers such as, "helping my Mommy pick up toys, helping watch my little brother. or sharing my toys with someone." When I asked how Jesus shows that He loves them, they answered quickly also. "He takes care of me, He is with me when it is dark, He gives me stuff." Once a little girl told me that Jesus even made her cat well.

How quickly do you suppose most adults would answer the same questions if they were asked.? Most are well aware of how Jesus shows that He loves them. "He takes care of us. He is with us in dark times. He gives us oh so much "stuff." Most importantly He is concerned about what ever concerns us, even things such as a sick cat. If asked what they did to show Jesus they loved Him today, would most adults have to think about it? We should be able to answer quickly. Are we helping others clean up a mess in their lives? Are we watching out for our brothers and sisters? Are we sharing what we have, not only things, toys of this world, but also spiritual things that really make a difference? We all need to ask ourselves this child-like question every single night.

"What did I do to show Jesus that I love Him today?"
