Comeback, Reunion, and Farewell

Today people seem to be retiring younger and younger. Some who have money can do so younger than others. Famous people who retire usually always make a comeback. If Michael Jordon's money runs low from Hanes tag less underwear, Rayovac batteries, or Ballpark franks, he might play ball again. If Garth Brooks looses all his friends in low places he may sing again.

I myself supported some famous entertainer’s comebacks and reunions when I was still out there in the world. I saw the Eagles reunion in 95. I saw Garth Brooks comeback in 98. I didn't make it to Cher or Tina Turner's recent farewell tours. I just know they too will be back if they need money for more wigs or outlandish costumes.

Those of us who aren't famous spend so much time and money on comeback, reunion, and farewell tours. We even spend time talking about entertainers, long dead, who might "come back". Is Elvis, the king, really dead? He was spotted at a truck stop, a shopping mall, and a Laundromat, you know. Some have even said that JFK is alive on an island somewhere. All this is really sad. The media of course makes big bucks off of these so called sightings of dead people. I'm sure these people's family members wish we would just let them live in peace and let their dead relatives rest in peace. This world can be a cruel and confusing place.

When was the last time you saw a newspaper headline saying, "Jesus isn't really dead - He's alive!! Our King is coming back." I'm sure you all answered the same, never. When was the last time you heard of a Jesus sighting? You should hear of these often. Others should spot Jesus in us everyday, in our everyday lives at the truck stop, shopping mall or Laundromat. They can't find the news in a newspaper headline but they can find it in the word of God. We as believers should take the time to share this news. Those who are busy looking for dead entertainers or waiting for washed up rock n roll bands to do a comeback tour really need to hear this life changing news.

It is not a maybe, a what if, or a slight possibility. It is a fact. Jesus is coming back for a reunion with those of us who believe. We will all go with Him and say farewell to this cruel, confusing, world. We need to take as many with us as we can on this unending tour.

I Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the arch angel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall ever be with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another with these words.
