Ballerinas In The Mud Puddle

When I was a child I would sit by my window and watch it rain for hours on end. I wasn't bored, longing to go outside, I just loved to watch it rain. There was always a puddle that would form right in front of my window. I'd watch as every drop hit in perfect rhythm. As I watched, through my eyes, I could see a little ballerina form as each drop hit. I could see them spinning on their tippy toes, wearing their tutus, with their hands held high over their heads. Today when I take the time to notice, I still see the ballerinas in the mud puddles. I only have to use eyes from my childhood to find them. I can still see the hidden beauty if I try.

We so often overlook so many little beautiful things in our world. We become busy with things we think are important and miss out on some of the best parts of being on this earth. God made the decision to let us live here. If He wanted He could have placed us somewhere else in the universe. He is God you know. If He wanted He didn't have to create man at all, He didn't have to create earth. I'm sure heaven is probably good enough for God. He did make the earth for us and we hardly ever notice all the majesty all around us, much less say, "Thanks God, you did a great job!” He intended for us to thank Him and worship Him.

Psalm 40:22 Give unto the Lord glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

We certainly have gotten off track from what our creator had in mind. God just lets us continue on, doing what we please, instead of what pleases Him. He sees all the beauty in the earth even when we miss it. He sees the beauty in the mud puddles. He sees the beauty in us, hidden under our evil, sinful nature. He watches the rhythm of our lives day by day. God knows deep inside each of us is a built-in longing to worship Him. Our Father is waiting patiently for us to look up to Him with child like vision. God knows better than any of us that beauty can be formed even in the mud. We were created from dirt in the first place. He's not to busy to watch us and wait for the beauty to appear.

Genesis3:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.

Today thank God for creating you and creating this earth for you to live on for a little while. Try looking at all the beauty all around you as you once looked upon it as a child. Thank God that He looks on us and sees the beauty deep inside. Thank God He didn't give up on us, but sent His Son to pull us from the muddy, miry puddle we were drowning in. He wants to mold each of us into a vessel through which He can put his beauty on display.

Psalm 40:22 NIV He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

Mark 10:14 Verily I say unto you whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
